Fun Facts

What a day. What a life. Samuel and I hiked all of Kona today. It was gorgeous, humid and exciting. Fun facts:

#1 - Our first priority was to send off my passport to be renewed... tried to do that our first day on the Island but found out there was anooooother form I needed from Ohio.. so we were delayed 1.5 weeks. There are so many things in this entire process that cannot be found out ahead of time. Learning to roll with that. So once I get my new passport... I'll send it off again with my enormous immigration application for permission to reside in Sweden, change a few other practical things... and then I'm on my to my hub who will be awaiting my arrival!!!! Sounds so simple now that I've typed it out. Speaking in faith that it wont take more than a few weeks though!

#2 - Finally, I got to see my sea turtle today! It was being pushed around by the waves but quite content nibbling on mossy rocks. So cool.

#3 - I found LYCHEE in the market!! I first had lychee (a small, rounded, clear fruit with sweet and soft flesh, a large seed and a thin rough skin) when I spent a summer teaching English in China a few years ago. It was amazing. I went back to China with dad that same year, but it was out of season. Lychee is mostly grown in China but can also be found in some other Asian areas like Thailand, Vietnam, Northern India..... and Hawaii!!!

#4 - Had an evening on the town with my man, mama and pops... which included the discovery of an incredible Indian boutique! I got a silk wrap that can be transformed into 100+ different styles! No joke! That'll be my entire missionary wardrobe :)

#5 - For dessert we visited THE Bubba Gumps.... from Forest Gump! It hung right over the ocean waves!

#6 - Yesterday I took a lone hike to a place the Hawaiians call "the end of the world"... basically a cliff that hangs over roaring waves. There I had a great date with God. He's so incredible. So big. He has put eternity in all of our hearts. Every one of our spirits are longing to be united with the Spirit of God. Can you imagine that?? It's true. People recognize that longing and never want to attribute it to the One who created them. They'd rather fill up their void with tangible quick-fixes and most of all, understandable solutions. It doesn't work that way.
Give that message to someone you cross paths with today. Even if the person you talk to can't wrap their mind around the words you're saying... the gospel you're speaking... speak it out. Their spirits will jump inside. Your words hold the power of either life or death. Choose life over people simply because you can!!
