First stop was the Coffee Shack... literally a shack, hanging on the edge of a mountain in the tropics of Hawaii with a remarkable view! This treasure was recommended to us by our hero and friend Jay Bennett. We ate coconut cream pie for breakfast!
"South Point" on the very bottom of the Big Island is the southern most tip of the States! Some think it's actually the Florida keys... but that's not true :) The wind down there was harsh, wild, strong. The trees are all actually laying down in the same direction! Feels like some Dr Seuss tale.
You should have seen their hair styles :)
A little while past the southern tip... is a green sand beach. I suppose that's also a bit Dr Seussey. The volcano (just a few miles away) left green, rich minerals in that one location a long time ago. It's a stunning hidden treasure that takes a loooong hike to get to... surely not for the faint of heart.
Ciao :)
