First off, I was meditating on Proverbs 31 this morning which outlines the characteristics of a noble wife (woman). Good stuff. This chapter was written as a mirror for us to look into often. Here are some highlights...
*her husband can trust her and she will greatly enrich his life
*she finds... brings... prepares... plans... goes... plants...
*she is energetic and strong, a hard worker
*she makes sure her dealings are profitable, her lamp burns late into the night
*her hands are busy
*(the Message Bible reads...) She senses the worth of her work
*she extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy
*she dresses in fine linen and purple gowns (purple is the color of royalty!)
*she is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear for the future
*when she speaks, her words are wise and she gives instructions with kindness (Message Bible - When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say -- HELLO girls!)
*she carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness
I realized today that this kind of a woman is not described with adjectives, but with verbs. She's a hard worker with a big vision and a lot of passion!
That's quite the opposite of what the world screams. The world advertises it's most perfect(or should I say it's most desperate housewives) women by their curves, their fashion, their status, their talk. That's why the women strewn across our media are not so classy or virtuous at all. They look pretty junky and cheap to me... definitely not anything to strive after.
A noble, virtuous, worthy woman... can be found in action. Your actions will produce the definitions of your life. Verbs will establish adjectives. Now that's something promising to chase after!
And.... what is a girl to wear??? Why an Indian wrap-dress made of silk of course! I stumbled upon this treasure a few weeks ago and after trying it out in so many ways... I'm convinced it's the best missionary piece of clothing!
It's simply a double-layered, reversible, rectangular piece of fabric with two straps that come off of each end. They come in all different kinds of patterns and prints and also two different lengths.... a short version for shirts, shorter skirts and minidresses, and a long version which is what I have...
... and there are hundreds of ways to wear it! ...
Find them online! And then come be with me on the field!!
