In Ethiopia...

... you wash your clothes in buckets....
... or in a river and leave them to dry on the hot rocks in the sun...
... you drive Peugeots from the '70's, and they tend to break down. A LOT...
... so what should be 8 hour trips through the desert, end up being 20 hours...
... but you meet a lot of fascinating people along the way...
... you build your own baptismals with benches and tarps and recycle the water as much as possible since it's so hard to get, but lives come up from that tub changed and glowing of Jesus! ...
... it's not so common to have your own bed...
... and you buy your produce off the dusty streets...
... any hair style will do...
... as well as any color wardrobe...
... guys walk hand-in-hand whether they're strangers, brothers or old friends...
... kids live on the streets...... people find it more practical to carry things on their heads...... you share the road. With just about anything...
... but it doesn't really matter which side you choose to drive on. And animals usually go on the roof...
... many village kids have never seen a white face...
... which can be a pretty wild experience! ...
... you eat a lot of goat and lentils, occasionally chicken - with a boiled egg of course...
... or raw meat... with sour, squishy bread called "injera"...
... you could rip your house apart in the hunt of rats...
... but it's always worth it...
... you share the night paths with hyenas...
... or let men dangle rotten meat by your head for a late night snack...
... and after all of that... people meet Jesus.
... and you wonder why I say that this is the most amazing country in the world???
